Batique

Cognitive abilities are fundamental for individual success, providing the bedrock for various tasks and fostering adaptability in dynamic environments. Collaboratively developed by the Learning Development Institute, PT Melintas Cakrawala Indonesia, and Gadjah Mada University, the AJT Cognitive Test emerged as an adolescent assessment framework. However, to conduct effective cognitive assessments for children aged 5–12, an application tailored to their needs is imperative. This led to the creation of Batique, a game-based assessment tool developed in collaboration with Level Up powered by Agate.

Objective

Batique aims to measure cognitive ability effectively, specifically for children aged 5–12. Developed in collaboration with PT Melintas Cakrawala Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University, the game-based assessment aligns with the AJT Cognitive Test and the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory. The primary objective is to provide an application mirroring the full test version of the AJT Cognitive Test, encompassing eight assessment dimensions.

Challenge

The challenge addressed by Batique was the need for an effective cognitive assessment tool tailored to children aged 5–12. While the AJT Cognitive Test laid the foundation, translating its structure into an engaging and accessible application posed a unique challenge.

Solution

Batique presents a solution in the form of eight mini-games, each designed to measure different cognitive abilities based on the CHC theory. Adapted from the AJT Cognitive Test framework and validated for Indonesian children, Batique is accessible through a web application on any device. The app collects and analyzes game data, generating detailed reports showcasing a child’s cognitive profile, strengths, and areas for improvement.
